R.E. (Religious Education)
At Danesholme Junior Academy, we follow the Cambridgeshire County Council Agreed Syllabus 2018 – 2023. The principle aim of Religious Education is to teach through an enquiry led process, which will develop pupil’s religious literacy and their knowledge and understanding of principal religions around the world. Pupils will also develop the understanding and skills required to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious issues, with reference to the principal religions and world views that they represent.
As an academy, we have a statutory responsibility to teach Religious Education to all pupils. There is an expectation that 45 hours of RE is taught in an academic year. From September 2021, we will be introducing a new scheme of work called Discovery RE, which works inline with the Cambridgeshire Agreed Syllabus. This scheme is set to provide engaging and challenging RE lessons, which will develop children’s learning in a progressive way.
